Mom's POD arrives at The Village at Brookwood
In natural disaster terms, Mom traded earthquakes and wild fires for hurricanes and humidity. Not sure that humidity is actually a "natural disaster," but it can sure feel like it at times over the summer months!
The PODS driver positions Mom's POD.
Mom's already working on her drawl. One of our friends at church, Kelly Johnston, has even offered to interpret "southern talk" for Mom to speed her assimilation into the local culture.
The excellent crew from Fire Logistics in Mebane, made quick work of emptying the POD.
Karen considers the first set-up of the living room.
Here are with mom after dinner the first night in her new North Carolina home!
It is so nice to have Mom 5 miles away
instead of 2,500!

Great picture of you three!
Hey, Y'all !
SO good to have this update and photos! With all the warm welcome and
love your mom will find adjusting so much easier!:)
You two are great, K&K, and we admire your devotion and efforts to show
how much you care and to make this happen!
If mom can tolerate it, a nice glass of 'sweet tea' (the house-wine of the
south, don't ya know!:), might make a delightful 'toast' to her arrival!
God bless and keep each of you in his Might Grip, covering you with His
Grace.
love from your Spudster friends, Paula 'n Bob Barnes!
You are such good story tellers and I really love how you love your momma. Bravo! She's there with you. She'll be blown away by all the year round green.
Great work everyone. A job efficiently and well done. Yuall (I'm writing this with a southern drawl). Hope your Mom loves the beautiful state of NC. Thanks for sending photos. Bee P
Thanks P&B! Sweet Tea is a bit too sweet for mom's So Cal palate at this point! Still trying to get her used to BBQ sauce with a vinegar base. The sacrifices we have to make...oh well!
Hey Judy! Yes, she's getting ready for her FIRST fall colors in 84 years!
Bee, it's fun having y'all up there at GOMUS (or US-HQ) part of it all!
Bill, heck...we're just a good looking bunch, you know? Thanks for being part of our lives through your friendship, partnership, and encouragement!
How wonderful to have your mom close. She is fortunate to have such a wonderful family and a nurse to boot, to look in on her. May God bless you all. Loved by us.

Such a beautiful threesome.... I know what you mean about adjusting to the weather. I just returned from a weekend in Florida for a granddaughter's wedding and happy to be back in So Ca...in spite of earthquakes and fires!
